About Me

My name is Morgan Lane and I am a singer, performer and student.  I fell in love with music at a young age.  My mom, Nicole Heaston, is an international opera singer and she brought music into my life.  I have spent my life looking up to my mom and watching her perform all over the world.  Even though she has inspired me, I am my own singer and have a love of singing Musical Theater.

I performed in my first musical when I was five years old as Gus the Pirate in Peter Pan.  I was the youngest person in the cast.  I gained a love for the singing, dancing and acting.  I am able to be other people and bring others joy by being on stage.  I have been a man, Captain Hook (one of my favorite roles), a princess (Jasmine and Ariel), a Tea Cup (Mrs. Potts), a Kangaroo (Sour Kangaroo) and a lounge singer evangelist (Reno Sweeney).

I perform with my show choir, Bravo, at school and work with children as a gym counselor on the weekends.  When I am not singing or working, I love to volunteer in my community.  I volunteer at least one hundred hours a year working with Katy Christian Ministries, Meals on Wheels, the youth crisis center Krause Center and various other philanthropies in my community.  I believe life is about giving back both on stage and off.

Waiting for Life from "Once on this Island"

I chose this song because it has so much personality.  It also shows the range of my voice.  I hope to perform this role in the future.  Ti Moune is such a fun character that I hope I get to perform one day.

I Get a Kick from "Anything Goes"

I chose this song because I performed the role of Reno Sweeney this summer and she has become one of my favorites.  I wanted to show a softer vocal style with less belting.

Ernestine's Monologue from Crumbs from the Table of Joy

Even though the character Ernestine is talking about death, I laughed out loud at her describing her transition from the south to Brooklyn.  It was such a uniquely Black voice that I related to very easily.

Rosaura's Monologue from "Life is a Dream"

I chose this monologue of Rosaura because of her strength and restraint in her quest to restore her honor.
